Open Access & Licensing
IJCI is fully open access. Published scholarly articles are immediately available to read and reuse under a clear open license.
Immediate open access
Articles published by IJCI are freely available online immediately upon publication without a subscription, reader fee, registration requirement, or embargo. No submission fees or article processing charges (APCs).
Editorial decisions are based on scientific and editorial considerations and are independent of any current or future author fee, waiver, subsidy, donation, or sponsorship.
License
Unless a Version of Record explicitly states otherwise, published scholarly articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
CC BY 4.0 permits sharing, redistribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium or format, including commercial use, provided appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is supplied, and changes are indicated. Reuse must not imply endorsement by the authors or IJCI.
Copyright & publication rights
Authors retain copyright in their published scholarly work. By publishing with IJCI, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, preserve, index, and disseminate the Version of Record as part of the permanent scholarly record under the article's stated open license.
Copyright in an article is separate from copyright and other rights that may apply to the IJCI website, journal name, logo, branding, interface, and non-article editorial material.
Third-party material
The article's CC BY 4.0 license applies only to material for which the authors or journal have the necessary rights. Authors are responsible for identifying third-party figures, tables, instruments, photographs, videos, or other material that requires separate permission, obtaining that permission before publication, and making any reuse restriction clear in the published article.
Self-archiving
Authors may deposit the submitted manuscript and accepted manuscript in personal, institutional, subject, or funder repositories without embargo, provided the deposited version is clearly identified and does not contain confidential peer-review or editorial material.
After publication, authors may immediately deposit and share the IJCI Version of Record without embargo under its CC BY 4.0 license. The final journal citation and a link to the published article should accompany the deposited Version of Record.
How to reuse IJCI content
When reusing scholarly material, cite the original article, identify the authors and journal, include the article URL or DOI when one has been registered, link to the CC BY 4.0 license, and indicate whether changes were made. Do not imply endorsement by the authors or journal.
