Governance

Appointment Terms

  • Appointments are reviewed at least annually and may be renewed according to contribution, journal needs, and continued professional standing.
  • An Editorial Board appointment does not by itself grant access to confidential manuscripts; Editorial Portal permissions are assigned separately according to role.
  • Associate Editors who handle manuscripts must follow IJCI conflict-management, confidentiality, peer-review, and editorial-independence requirements.
  • A member may ask to end an appointment at any time, and IJCI may end or change an appointment when responsibilities, integrity standards, or journal needs are no longer met.
  • Editorial appointments do not guarantee authorship opportunities, manuscript acceptance, reviewer assignments, or preferential treatment for the member or the member's institution.

Editorial Opportunities

Join the Editorial Board

Editorial appointments are selective and are based on documented expertise, scholarly activity, professional standing, the journal's current specialty needs, and the ability to contribute independently. Applying does not guarantee appointment, and no applicant is publicly listed unless an appointment is formally confirmed and active.

Appointment criteria

  • A verifiable current academic, clinical, research, or educational role relevant to the journal's scope.
  • A scholarly record appropriate to the proposed specialty or methodological area, assessed from the CV and available research profiles.
  • Demonstrated subject expertise and professional standing sufficient to evaluate scientific work independently.
  • Peer-review or editorial experience is considered when available; it is not represented as present unless documented.
  • Commitment to editorial independence, confidentiality, research integrity, and conflict-of-interest disclosure.

Editorial responsibilities

  • Advise on manuscripts within the member's genuine area of expertise when invited.
  • Support fair, timely, and evidence-based editorial evaluation without guaranteeing acceptance or preferential treatment.
  • Identify and disclose conflicts before participating in manuscript handling or review.
  • Protect confidential manuscript, author, reviewer, and editorial information.
  • Help maintain the journal's scientific scope and ethical standards through professional editorial service.

Applications require a CV and professional details. ORCID and a Google Scholar or PubMed profile may be provided to assist credential verification.

Institutional affiliations of editors are provided for identification purposes only. IJCI is an independent journal and is not an official publication of the University of Southern California.
